One picture is worth a thousand words!
My name is Chihiro Takeuchi. I am an illustrator and picture book author from Japan.
I've been part of the industry for some two decades but I published my first work, a paper cut craft book 2011.
My books have been translated into more than 10 languages and My work have been recognised, amongst others, by the Society of Illustrators, Kirkus Reviews,
Readings and The New York Times, Good Housekeeping Kids' Book Awards etc.
My life has always been seeped in art. Ever since I was a child I was surrounded by it and I knew it would be my life's calling. My motivation for doing and continuing to do this has
largely stayed the same over the years. I love encouraging children's imagination and I love discovering new designs and new stories that will resonate with them. My three children are my
strictest critics and my greatest help and I have them to thank for all the successes I've had so far.
The highlights of my career have been being selected to exhibit at the Bologna Book Fair for two years in a row and working with Google's team and talented artists from all over the world in order to promote women on International Women's Day in 2018.
My personal life and my professional career have taken many surprising and unsuspecting turns so far but I have enjoyed the ride and I hope to continue
finding and bringing exciting stories to children everywhere.
I love to make stories with some blank spaces that readers can fill with their own imagination.
That's the effect I am trying to make and the effect my books will hopefully have.
